OHANA FESTIVAL DANA POINT 9/29/2023 by lbencivengo
FOOTSTEPS FROM STAGE RIGHT. Eddie Vedder himself walks out on stage to announce the first band of the festival.
Dawning denim blue jackets, the band closely follows the rock and roll Hall of Famer and takes their places. Emma (lead singer) follows as the handsome guitarist starts the first lick.
Emmas erie vocals and lyrics dance over the guitar lick as tension builds. Then “crack” the drums hit the pick up note and the full band is on behind her with the classic hard rock drive that we just don’t get to hear all so often anymore. It seems as if this band has been awaiting the return of rock and roll ready to come out on top.
Her tenacity and energy carried through every second of the 30 minute set. They played mostly originals and some very curated covers. “Where is my mind” by the Pixies got everybody moving, as did “Just a Girl” by No Doubt. I feel like playing covers is not always the best idea, but for a new and upcoming band, it was a great way to draw the crowd in closer and make them feel at home.
Rumor has it, this was the bands first time really hitting the big stage and I can only see great things in their future. I will continue to get to know and stay tuned for many more amazing music drops and concerts in their near future.
